I'm an aspiring writer: scribbler of stories, would-be novelist and all-round word-junkie. In autumn last year I began to toy with submitting a few pieces of work, and had my first article published in Cycling World in the spring, with another two appearing this autumn. I'm hopeless at submitting and am working hard on changing that this autumn. One of my short stories - only the second I'd ever submitted - was shortlisted in Writing Magazine's recent 750-word short story competition, which sent me over the moon and has given me a much-needed encouraging kick in the rear.
I'm from Ireland but have lived in North Wales for years. If I'm not scribbling or reading I'm normally out on a bike or a footpath getting muddy, or earning a crust in nature conservation, also a muddy pursuit.
